One can also find an old light house near this beach which is very bewitching to the visitors. In the month of august every year the grand event of Nehru Trophy Boat Race takes place which is a very big event and large number of tourist flock this place on this day.

Backwaters in Alleppey The main attraction of the Alleppey backwaters is the overnight journey in the famous Kerala houseboats which is more comfortable as any luxurious hotel room. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary This is an ideal place for Bird lovers, this sanctuary is spread over an expanse of 14 acres. Commonly sighted birds are Kingfisher, paradise fly catchers and egrets. One can travel this place by boat safaris.

Best time to visit

The most enjoyable place to be visit in Kerala, the abode of backwaters is between October and February. At that time Alleppey experience winter season when the temperature is moderate, making it a perfect time to explore this city. Monsoon lovers are advisable to go between June and September and enjoy the beauty of this place.
